Wow. What a great girl;) Our littlest darling has been home for 9 months now. We are really starting to see some healing. Her confidence has really grown. She is super smart but we are still waiting for language development to happen...there is a lot of talk of Avah having Apraxia. If anyone reading this blog has any experience with this, please feel free to leave me a message in my comment section or email me at: ahoselton@sbcglobal.net
Like I mentioned, Avah is very smart. She labels items very well and she labels colors, shapes, and even her name. It is not uncommon for her to point out yellow items where ever we are. She will do this with any color but yellow seems to be her favorite but if you ask her, she now says green (not sure what that is about, she is my yellow girl!). She loves labeling things that she knows are hers as "Ayah's" or (Avah's). She loves seeing her name and I know it would not be hard for her to recognize all of her letters if I just taught her. She understands English VERY WELL. So what's the problem?
The problem is the lack of expressive language. She loves being like Laney and Kacie and she copies whatever they say in an "attempt" to be like them. She is putting three word unique sentences together but not too many. One thing that I notice she struggles with are certain consonant vowel combinations. Sigh.
Oh, the biggest news is that she will be having her congenital fibrosis syndrome surgery on March 29th. The hope is that her doctor can align her eyes and raise her gaze to a more horizontal position. This will hopefully eliminate her need to always hold her chin up to look at people. Now, her eyes are set permanently downward and inward. I wonder how this will affect her ability to get around her environment. I wonder if she will always be looking down now? Hmmmm

Hi Amy! This is JessicaCo from Dillon forum. Just wanted to encourage you about Avahs speech. It can take a year or more for toddler/preschoolers to start talking when coming home from Korea. Eli has been home for 16 months, came home just before age 2. He is just now starting complex sentences. They tend to have a "silent period" before they start expressing themselves. Of course, need to make sure hearing is okay, etc. I bet she'll pick it up soon!!! I love her beautiful hair in these pictures!!!
Love that sweet little girl!!! Praying for you both!!!:)
